October 10 -12, 2014 MYSTERY TRIP!!!
This was meant to be a ride to Kentucky but the weather forecast caused us to cancel hotel reservations and plan a Natchez ride instead. At the last minute the weather again forced changes. It was decided that we would just meet at Bojangles in Cullman and that we would ride "Somewhere", thus the reason we call this a "Mystery Trip". Sixteen people (10 bikes) left Bojangles headed to places unknown. Our first stop was at The American Village in Montevallo, AL. After touring the Village we ate lunch at Tin Top Barbecue. We spent the first night in Columbus, Ga. Saturday morning we hit the road to Andersonville, GA to tour the Andersonville National Historic Site. The Camp Sumter Military Prison at Andersonville was one of the largest Confederate Military prisons during the Civil War. After spending a couple of hours at this memorial, we headed to Warm Springs, GA where we ate lunch at The Bulloch House Restaurant which was recommended to us by the manager of Waffle House the night before. It was a beautiful old house with a delicious buffet and "to die for" desserts. Next stop was the Wildlife Safari Park in Pine Mountain, GA. We were a little bit disappointed in the animals today. Other times that we had been to the park, the animals would surround our van for us to feed them. We should have known when we drove up late in the day and the parking lot was full that the animals would be tired and NOT hungry! We still had fun but just not as much interaction with the animals as we would have liked. Our second night was spent in LaGrange, GA. On Sunday morning, the rainy weather was still trying to catch us so we put on our rainsuits and headed home. All in all, it was another very enjoyable and interesting weekend trip with only a couple of minor mishaps. As they always say "It's not the destination, it's the journey!" And we truly enjoyed this journey with no definite destination in mind...
